Zero Cost Energy Future - Marine Drive, O'Sullivan Beach

Plans are progressing to install about 3.5 megawatts (MW) of solar panels at our Marine Drive property to help power the nearby Christies Beach Wastewater Treatment Plant.

This work will contribute to our zero cost energy future, which will see the installation of 154 MW of solar panels at about 70 of our sites across the state. The goal is to reduce our operating costs and help keep water prices low and stable.

Our investment in renewable energy generation will reduce our reliance on the grid with the aim to achieve zero net electricity costs by 2020-21.

Engagement with the local community started in August 2018 and has included letterbox drops, making fact sheets available, face-to-face conversations, and a Reference Group of interested local residents.

Through these activities, we know the local community is interested in the change to visual amenity from the solar panel installation.

Acting on this feedback, we are looking to install a unique low-lying solar PV system known as PEG. This option considerably reduces the overall visual profile of the solar arrays. Further information about the PEG system and our latest plans can be found in the document library.

As plans progress, we will continue to work together the local community so their input can be considered.
