Project background
Together with our delivery partner John Holland Guidera O’Connor Joint Venture (JHGOJV), we are upgrading critical water infrastructure in Port MacDonnell to ensure we can continue providing reliable water services for the community now and into the future. The elevated water tank at the corner of Charles Street and Church Street is undergoing essential refurbishment to improve long‑term structural integrity and operational performance.
Construction timing
Upgrades to the elevated water tank at the corner of Charles and Church Streets were delayed due to inclement weather. We are now scheduled to return to site in late March 2026, with works expected to be completed by late May 2026, weather permitting. During this period, crews will complete structural upgrades, install a new tank platform, and undertake associated safety improvements. Installation of the new platform will require a partial road closure on Charles Street in mid‑April 2026, with traffic management and detours in place as needed.
What to expect
Traffic management: For the safety of the community and our crews, traffic management will be in place on Charles Street and Church Street as required. This will include a partial road closure and detours when we install the new tank platform on Charles Street in mid-April 2026.
Access: Driveway access will be maintained for residents and businesses located on Charles Street and Church Street.
Any road closure or detours will be communicated in advance to stakeholders.
Noise and Dust: As with any construction project, you may notice some noise and dust during the works. Our crews will make every effort to minimise noise and dust.
Service continuity: No interruption to your water services is expected. If an interruption becomes necessary, we will provide at least four business days’ notice.
