SA Water is committed to continually improving water services in your area. Together with our major framework partner McConnell Dowell SRG Global Utilities Joint Venture (MCD-SRG JV), we are preparing to begin work on the Mount Pleasant Earth Bank Storage (EBS) upgrade.

What is happening

The 5 megalitre EBS, located within the Mount Pleasant Water Treatment Plant at the intersection of Schrapels Road and Tungkillo Road, was first constructed in 2011 to provide the Mount Pleasant Township with a potable water supply, sourced from the Mannum to Adelaide Pipeline and treated at the Mount Pleasant Water Treatment Plant.

Inspections on the EBS have determined that the EBS cover and liner are reaching the end of their service life, and are in need of replacement.

The EBS will be drained, and the old cover will be removed. A new cover will be installed and a new liner will be installed over the top of the existing liner. The scope of this project also includes investigation works and other ancillary works to support the installation.

When is it happening

Crews will begin site preparation in May of 2026, with active works and the draining down of the EBS beginning in June 2026. Works are anticipated to continue until December 2026.

The works will be scheduled Monday to Friday, from 7am to 5pm each day, subject to weather and unforeseen technical issues. Occasional weekend works may be required.

What to expect

As with most infrastructure upgrades, there may be some temporary impacts, including:

  • construction noise and vibration
  • dust and debris
  • changes to traffic conditions, including the presence of construction vehicles.

We will take all reasonable steps to minimise these impacts and support nearby residents. If you require assistance or have specific concerns during the works, please contact us so we can help.

Thank you for your patience whilst we undertake these important works.
