Lawrie St and Cudmore Tce, Henley Beach Wastewater Infrastructure Upgrade
**June/July 2026 Update**
Works have started on phase one stage two of the wastewater rising main project where we are approaching the intersection of Lawrie Street and Northey Ave.
Cudmore Tce near the intersection with Hill Street will be closed from Thursday 25 to Friday 26 June for investigation works between 9.00am and 3.00pm - a detour will be in place via North Street and East Tce. There will be no disruption to driveway access on Cudmore Tce.

Together with our delivery partner, John Holland Guidera O’Connor Joint Venture (JHGOJV), we are undertaking a major upgrade of wastewater infrastructure to ensure we can continue providing reliable wastewater services into the future and meet projected wastewater demands for the Henley Beach area beyond 2030.
The Cudmore Terrace Wastewater Pump Station, which services around 10,000 connections and pumps wastewater to the Port Adelaide Relift Pump Station, is showing significant deterioration and no longer has the capacity to meet future demand. To ensure continued reliable service, we will be replacing approximately 425 metres of the existing rising main and rehabilitating the pump station to increase pumping capacity and improve long‑term operational reliability.
The project originally commenced in April 2024 but was paused after a failed section of the rising main was identified. Investigations confirmed that the affected pipeline must be replaced before pump station upgrade works can proceed.
Project timeline
Phase 1 – Rising Main Replacement
Installation of a new 400‑metre wastewater main along Lawrie Street and Cudmore Terrace is scheduled to occur between late February and August 2026.
Phase 2 – Pump Station Upgrade
Upgrade works at the pump station on the corner of Cudmore Terrace and Hill Street (previously scheduled for 2024) will now take place from August to December 2026.
The full project is expected to be completed in 2027. Work will be delivered in stages throughout the year.
