Construction of the new water treatment facility in Oodnadatta is expected to begin in 2022 with customers receiving the new clean, safe drinking water supply before the end of this year.

We’re currently completing site investigations, to inform detailed asset design.

We have commenced geotechnical investigations on selected locations in Oodnadatta to inform our upcoming construction works.

In the meantime, the new desalination plant is being built at our workshop along with the container that will house it. Once construction works are completed, the desal plant will be transported to Oodnadatta and installed in its permanent location.

We are working with local community representatives to plan construction in a way that minimises impacts and achieves positive associated outcomes for the local environment and community wellbeing.

To date we have met with members of the Oodnadatta Progress Association, members of the Dunjiba Council and local residents to discuss the works, offer updates, answer questions and gather suggestions.

Details of our next community engagement activities are in the right hand column of this page.
