We’re upgrading water services in the Adelaide CBD along North Terrace and Rundle Road. Together with our contractor McConnell Dowell Diona joint venture, we’re constructing a new water main to improve the reliability of the water supply to properties in that area.

A new 941-metre trunk main will be installed along North Terrace between Frome Road and East Terrace, along Rundle Road between East Terrace and Dequetteville Terrace and through the eastern section of the Adelaide Park Lands.

Current status

Day construction works have commenced along Rundle Road between East Terrace and Dequetteville Terrace and in the eastern section of the Park Lands from 7am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Night construction works are scheduled to start this week along Botanic Road (between East Terrace and Dequetteville Terrace) from 7pm – 6am, Sunday to Thursday and will take approximately three weeks to complete.

On Sunday 20 June, Botanic Road (between East Terrace and the Dequetteville Terrace) will be closed to road users with detours in place from 9pm – 6am.

Night construction works are also scheduled to start late June at the corner of North Terrace and Frome Road from 7pm – 6am, Sunday to Thursday and will take approximately one week to complete.

Next steps

The project will take about three months to complete, subject to weather and ground conditions.

There will be traffic management in place through the work zones to ensure the safety of our work crew and the community, including reduced speed and lane access. We will be using heavy plant and equipment, so there will be some noise during construction although we aim to keep this to a minimum.
